Parent Meeting / Annual Dessert Night – June 4th at 7 PM

Please mark your calendars and bring a dessert to share to the mandatory Parent Meeting/Dessert Night on Thursday, June 4 at 7:00 PM in the high school cafeteria.  The coaches will speak to all parents regarding the high school cheerleading program and orders will be placed for cheerleading equipment.  Please bring a checkbook to make a $75.00 deposit toward equipment and camp.  All cheerleaders are asked to attend Dessert Night in practice clothes in order to tumble with Coach Pinos.  Don’t forget to bring an easy dessert to share! 

Saturday Tumbling at USA Stars - 10 AM and 11 AM

Coach JP is offering $5 tumbling classes this Saturday at the USA Stars Gym, 27 Fairview Street, Carlisle.  The class times will revert back to the original times as listed below:

10 to 11 am                 Beginner/Intermediate             Working back handsprings

11 to 12 noon              Advanced                                Working passes with tucks on the end

Please make every effort to attend the correct class based on your skill level.  This is helpful to our tumbling coach as well as beneficial to the cheerleaders in the class.

Cheerleaders to Cheer On CVHS Brainbuster Team at State Finals

We are calling upon all cheerleaders (new and old) to help support CV’s exceptional Brainbuster Team next Tuesday, May 26.  Cheerleaders are asked to meet at the CV bus loop at 5:30 pm in blue jeans, red shirt (Cheer Classic shirt if you have one) with hair pulled back in a red ribbon.  We will travel by bus to the Whitaker Center in downtown Harrisburg.  The competition will be broadcast live on WGAL Channel 8.  The community is invited to the competition to support CV’s academic team as they fight for their fifth and final victory of the season.  Let’s help CV become STATE CHAMPS!  See you at the bus loop!

Tumbling Opportunities

We are seeing increased strength and improved tumbling in the cheerleaders who are attending regular tumbling sessions – at least 2 to 3 times per week.   Please note that we will announce special group tumbling opportunities for our CV cheerleaders and encourage everyone to attend as often as possible.  (Hint: Plan carpools!)  Summer is also the perfect time to arrange private or semi-private tumbling lessons.  Please refer to the list below:

Summer Practices

Summer cheerleading practices at CVHS will be scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning June 9^th and June 10^th with exact times announced at Dessert Night.  Mandatory cheerleading practices for CVHS cheerleaders begin Monday, Aug. 3.  Please plan all summer vacations prior to this date.    

Physicals

Physical forms are available to download from the school website or you may click on this link:  http://www.cvschools.org/files/38/Physical%20form%20Drug%20Testing.pdf   In order to be valid, please do not have the physical forms signed by the doctor until June 1^st  or later. Please add the sport CHEERLEADING to the form underneath the last sport and sign at that location.

Log on to www.theusfinals.com on Friday, May 22 to see where CVHS Varsity is ranked among the Super Large Varsity teams competing at the U.S. Finals 2009.  Our team will be listed under the SCHOOL-REC division.  Varsity will go head to head for our overall 2009 Spirit Ranking and a chance to be officially crowned The U.S. Champions.
